PAGE 23 - TRANSCRIPT

Pallbearer, listen: Itello Demille will tell you that he first saw me thru a window, dancing, at, The Peola, a club, he’ll say, that my brother’s Father owned. He’ll also tell you that I started that performance by singing, "Come Jiggle your Belle for Baphomet" because I wanted my hips to move freely from right to wrong. Itello, the poor soul, will go on to tell you that I spotted his black hole of a head through that very window, as I raised (while in the grip of some bedeviled dance) my pink, shit-colored arm to stop any bit of good spirit, I might have been unintentionally invoking, right  in its  decent, well-groomed path.  Itello will tell you that he tossed back his black head and laughed silently, not so much as to not to disturb the rapture of the gentleman before me, but because he, for a moment, felt joy at having witnessed for the first time in his wretched life, the presence of the holy spirit in such a God forsaken place.

He’ll tell you that the quality of his laughter changed from ecstatic to incredulous to ridiculing to contemptuous when he saw that at my command, the beneficent spirit of Glory turned right back around. Itello will tell you that one of the gentleman, who saw him outside in a rage, trembling, biting his lower lip with laughter, steel pan drum in hand and peering at me through the window, pushed him into the club at gunpoint and onto the stage behind me, and ordered him to, "beat his pan while I danced and sang," because, Gunman claimed, it was time that my cheerful, acapella, calypso, falsetto, sing-songs, featured the accompaniment of muddier music.  And that’s how we began performing every night for the gentry, Itello will tell you, but, Pallbearer, all of this, and I could prove it to you, is completely untrue.
