Octaroon
Be calm, now Missus, your cries are disturbing the peace of the sea. Look, I’ve brought you the respite of the Hotel La Fete so that you may know pleasure again and slothful rest. Come and accept it. It will set you free.
Missus
Stay away from me you filthy red faced, sway backed, holy rolling octaroon. The peace of the sea? That sea is full of blood and bone marrow. And you think a slave can restrain me?! You think I am restrained? While you are busy forming the fool my spirit soars in fair-skinned, pink cheeked, emancipated ecstasy, just above my head. And that knife, Pallbearer, is to cut me down, carefully and without duress, is it not?
Pallbearer
Pallbearer? I bear no more coffins, Missus. In order to pay back what I owe to this life, I bear messages, instead. And this knife is a message from a rabid, feverish reveler-beast whom you disgraced over a kilo ago at approximately half past iniquity when you called it a goat and then threatened to break it without remorse but with the aid of a sky-flying, seed-spreading, underwater breathing, Master-killing slave. So let me come closer to you, Missus, so you can feel just how sharp the wit of this message is.
