Stoosh
Horny, come on now, be honest my Brother. Is my butt too big? Well, I say Goddamn, that puppet is pretty! Hey light-skinned, wanna braid my hair?

Maman
But wait! Who eat off all the tamarind candy, and step on me foot, and shake up the vertigo in me ‘ead? You all whine and chat too much. Shet you mouths and let’s just go where we going, Capice? Bene and all praises.

Ruthie
Carnival always begins again on the day that carnival ends. It does so like this: A solemn faced elder of the congregation stands up during the sermon and breaks wind in such a way that it brings him or her to their knees. Two greasy, soot-faced angels then help the old wind-passer to their feet as the rest of the congregation, laughing and covering their noses, makes a mass exodus for the door. Outside, painted faces fall from the trees. The congregants pick up the painted faces and put them on over their masks. The wind-passer blows his trumpet. The Revelers dance and jook somebody
, and then commence to eat.
